
A brief timeline...
- WHLP-AM was established as a country
radio station on November 16, 1955 in Centerville, Tennessee,
serving Hickman, Lewis and Perry counties.
- WIKA-FM was added in July 1974 at
3,000 watts.
- WHLP-AM increased it's wattage from
1,000 to 5,000 watts in May 1980.
- The call signs were modified to WNKX
AM/FM in August 1991.
- WNKX-FM increased power to 6,000
watts in 1996.
- WNKX AM/FM Radio Stations were purchased
by Steve and Wanda Turner in 1997 as Hickman County Broadcasting
Company, Inc.
- Steve Turner continues to own and
manage the stations.
